Individual and Family Therapy

We offer individual therapy for people of all ages. For children and adolescents, we collaborate with the family at all times. Family input is critical in the creation of treatment goals and in monitoring progress. In fact, parent participation is so important, one parent session per month is required for all children and adolescents in individual therapy.

Session Content

Individual therapy could include:

• individual social skills training
• cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety, anger/frustration, or depression
• strategies aimed at reducing impulsivity, including cognitive impulsivity
• curriculums targeting emotion regulation
• self-management or coping strategies, fostering greater independence

Parent-focused individual therapy could include:

• individually tailored parenting strategies (see Parenting)
• techniques for fostering your child's social skill development
• special topics, such as co-parenting or being an advocate for your child

Family behavioral therapy could include:

• modeling and coaching of appropriate play techniques to use with your child
• family problem-solving (e.g., dealing with homework, setting up a reward program, etc.)
• special topics, such as management of particular behaviors, dealing with divorce, etc.

Requirements

• Adults: 18 years and older.
• Child/adolescent age: 2-17 years old with a caregiver willing to assist with out-of-session homework assignments.
• Intake is required.
