Learning To Cope...Learning To Cooperate...

Playgroup for 6-9 year olds

The LTC Playgroup is designed for children who have generally mastered basic social skills such as sharing and taking turns, but have difficulty with more advanced skills.

Curriculum

In the LTC curriculum, your child will learn:

• emotional recognition/regulation
• self-esteem building
• cooperative work and play (3+ children)
• advanced skills for joining groups of children at play
• good sportsmanship
• coping skills/relaxation skills
• anger management/increased frustration tolerance
• improved communication skills (verbal and nonverbal)
• reading social cues

Requirements

• Child age: 6-9 years old
• Intake is required

Schedule

• Fall Group: Beginning in October, emphasis on Cooperation and Friendship-Building
• Winter Group: Beginning in January, emphasis on Emotion Regulation
• Spring Group: Beginning in April, emphasis on Self-Esteem and Team-Building
• Summer Group: Beginning in July, emphasis on Social Communication

Each group includes 12 child sessions. Parents are encouraged, but not required, to attend group sessions.
